Description
The Lion Trail is a guided walking tour through fynbos, forest and beach, finishing with an electric scooter ride along the Sea Point Promenade. The tour features stories of the city’s history, geology, flora, fauna, oceans, legends, food and wine. It’s the ideal way to orientate yourself and get to know what makes Cape Town such a unique and fascinating city. Led by a knowledgeable local guide, the route was specifically chosen for its spectacular views and sense of adventure – all adding up to one of Cape Town’s most enjoyable days out. The tour starts and ends at The Green Point Lighthouse, and takes five hours to complete. In a bid to showcase how diverse and beautiful Cape Town is, the route follows the promenade, before taking a path to the crest of Signal Hill, where hikers enjoy views over both the Atlantic Seaboard and City Bowl. The route then loops around the back of Lion’s Head, down the forests of The Glen and towards Camps Bay Beach. This unique trail then follows an unusual coastal path to the iconic Clifton beaches, where hikers can have a quick dip before jumpin on electric scooters and gliding back to the lighthouse, where it all began. There is also an option for a private, catered hike. This includes two canapé picnics, featuring local snacks and food, and a rooibos mimosa. The idea for the Lion Trail came about when a local travel journalist went for a stroll one Sunday morning. In just a few hours, he passed through city streets, mountains, a forest, coastal trails, sandy beaches and a promenade. There’s not many places in the world you can do such a thing. And that, he realised, was the ideal way to show how diverse Cape Town is. With the help of a local food expert, he added two picnic stops featuring delicious local drinks and snacks, partnered with an e-scooter company to finish off the tour off on a high – and The Lion Trail was born.Includes
