Description

Itinerary 07h30 - 07h45 Collection Clients are collected at their hotel in Cape Town. Exact times will be confirmed the day before and may vary depending on boat based whale watching times – earlier departure may be necessary. Clients are to please ensure they are ready to leave hotel at arranged time. Late departure may result in cancellation of boat based activities. The transfer through to Hermanus is via the meandering coastal route via Bettys’ Bay. There should be time for a coffee stop on the way or maybe the chance of watching some surfing at Gordons Bay. Whales may often be sighted from the coastal road and there are many laybys where you can stop for magnificent views over False Bay. The return journey is usually the direct route over Sir Lowrys’ Pass with wine tasting and lunch en-route at one of the many estates in the Bot River area. Betty's Bay Penguins A stop at the Betty’s bay Penguin colony is highly recommended. The colony is great place to view these endangered birds at close quarters and against the rugged background of Stoney Point. The site was once the location of the Waaygat Whaling Station (1912-30) – and remains of the old structures are clearly visible today. Hermanus Please allow at least 50 mins to get to the Harbour in Hermanus Whale Watching The boat-based tour is often the highlight of this tour. The 2 – 2.5 hr charter is your chance to get closer to these magnificent animals and learn more about their biology and behaviors from the experts on board. In the event that the boat trip has to cancel due to rough seas, the tour will focus instead on land based whale watching. Clients will be refunded on-site for the boat trip at the STO rate (tour operator rate) Lunch and afternoon Tour The afternoon is to be planned with your guide and a choice of activities and routes can be decided on-site. We recommend some time in Hermanus itself for land based whale watching and Lunch in any number of restaurants on the sea front. Otherwise lunch may be combined with a wine tasting or two on rout home via the many estates in the Bot River area. Be sure to discuss these options with your Driver/Guide before your boat based tour so that reservations can be made if necessary. 4pm Return to Cape Town We return you tired and happy to your hotel in Cape Town. Should you wish to extend your tour beyond 18h00, times and additional rates may be negotiated directly with your Driver / Guide on the day. 0617286742
