Description
Experience the thrill of shark cage diving in the world-famous Shark Alley, Gansbaai — just a 2.5-hour drive from Cape Town.
Join Marine Dynamics, global leaders in responsible shark tourism and marine conservation, for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure diving with bronze whaler sharks and possibly spotting other incredible species like broadnose sevengill sharks and African stingrays.
If you’ve selected the transfer option, your journey begins with a scenic drive from Cape Town to the marine wildlife hub of Gansbaai. Upon arrival at our headquarters, The Great White House, you’ll be welcomed with breakfast (or lunch depending on time) and introduced to your crew. A detailed safety and educational briefing will be led by an onboard marine biologist, who will remain with you throughout the trip.
After gearing up, you’ll walk to the harbour and board Slashfin, our custom-designed shark cage diving vessel equipped with modern amenities, snacks, and beverages. We cruise to Joubertsdam, a renowned natural shark aggregation area. Here, you’ll suit up in a clean wetsuit and receive your dive gear — all sanitized and provided by us. One by one, small groups enter the secure cage from the boat, coming face to face with some of the ocean’s most powerful and misunderstood predators — all while under expert supervision.
As the action unfolds, non-divers can still enjoy incredible sightings from the top deck, making it ideal for all comfort levels. While bronze whaler sharks are the main stars, the marine ecosystem offers surprises — including whales, dolphins, penguins, seals, and seabirds. Conditions permitting, we may pass through Shark Alley before returning to land.
Once ashore, warm up with homemade soup and freshly baked bread, then enjoy free access to our African Penguin and Seabird Sanctuary (APSS), where you can meet rescued birds undergoing rehabilitation. This stop reinforces our conservation commitment and leaves you with a greater understanding of the marine life you just experienced.
This unforgettable experience combines adrenaline, education, and conservation — and is proudly Fair Trade Tourism certified.
