Description
This amazing tour starts with a pick up from your hotel/accommodation and drop off at the Nelson Mandela Gateway to Robben Island which is at the V & A Waterfront. Then you ride a ferry which takes you to Robben Island. On the way to the island, you will enjoy beautiful views of the city as well as Table Mountain and numerous other landmarks. On arrival at the island you will be taken on a guided tour by an ex-inmate of the maximum security prison. He will give you first hand accounts of life as an inmate including the harsh conditions they had to live under. Explore the island as you learn about all the important structures. Visit the prison museum which also houses Nelson Mandela's prison. Get up close as you take photos of Nelson Mandela's cell which is the main attraction on the island. Explore the quarry where Nelson Mandela and other prisoners used to toil just to keep them preoccupied. Take amazing photos at the Blue Frame with the picturesque background of Table Mountain and the city of Cape Town. On completing the tour at the island, you will hop on to the ferry back to the Waterfront. You will then be driven to Century City, a 15 minute drive from the Waterfront to the Greatest Exhibition in Bronze in the World. Explore the historical exhibition which brings life to the history of South Africa. Stand face to face with the likes of Nelson Mandela, Joe Slovo, Helen Joseph, Annie Silinga Winnie Mandela and much more.
