Embark on an unforgettable 15-day adventure from Johannesburg to Cape Town, a journey that showcases the remarkable diversity of South Africa’s landscapes, cultures, and wildlife. From thrilling Big Five safaris to coastal beauty and cultural treasures, this tour captures the essence of South Africa in one immersive experience.
Your journey begins in Johannesburg. From here, travel northeast toward Kruger National Park, one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife reserves. On Day 2, enjoy a full-day safari in the park, home to the Big Five—lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, and buffalo—as well as giraffes, zebras, antelope, and an abundance of birdlife.
On Day 3, you explore the Panorama Route, a scenic drive through Mpumalanga’s highlands. Highlights include Bourke’s Luck Potholes, the Three Rondavels, and God’s Window, offering panoramic views of the Lowveld.
Day 4 takes you southeast to the province of KwaZulu-Natal and into the iSimangaliso Wetlands Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.to enjoy a hippo and croc boat cruise on the St Lucia Estuary.
From iSimangaliso, travel down to Durban, a vibrant coastal city known for its beaches, Indian-influenced cuisine, and multicultural energy. After a brief stop here, continue inland to the Drakensberg Mountains, South Africa’s highest mountain range.
From the mountains, the journey heads to the Eastern Cape, stopping in Port Alfred, a charming coastal town nestled between the Kowie River and the Indian Ocean. Then proceed to Addo Elephant National Park, famous for its dense population of elephants and other wildlife in a malaria-free environment.
Continue to Port Elizabeth, before venturing along the famous Garden Route. Stop at Plettenberg Bay, a stunning coastal town known for its beaches and natural beauty. Here, on Day 11, you’ll hike through the Robberg Nature Reserve, a rugged peninsula with dramatic cliffs, coastal vegetation, and ocean views that often include seals and marine birds.
Next, visit Knysna, a town nestled between lush forests and a tranquil lagoon. Explore the waterfront, enjoy fresh seafood, and take in the spectacular Knysna Heads.
From Knysna, head inland to Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world, located in the Klein Karoo. Discover the awe-inspiring Cango Caves.
As the tour nears its end, travel south to Cape Agulhas, the southernmost point of Africa, where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet. The windswept coastline and lighthouse make for a memorable photo stop.
Continue along the Whale Coast Route to Hermanus, a town renowned for land-based whale watching (in season) and scenic cliff paths. Stop at Betty’s Bay to see African penguins before completing the final stretch to Cape Town.
