Description

Skeleton Gorge Trail: Where Magic Meets Mystical Forest Adventure. surrounded by lush indigenous forest greenery with streams and waterfalls, welcome to Skeleton Gorge—a path that winds through Table Mountain’s very mystical soul - like an adventure scene in Lord of the Rings. At 6:00am, we shall meet and start our trail via Cecilia Forest at the plantation road parking lot. Here, you step onto this wild trail, and let the wild forest, streams and adventure embrace you. Ancient, indigenous trees stretch, leaves whispering secrets. Sunlight dances through ferns, creating shadows. Birds serenade, water trickles over mossy rocks, and damp earth scents the air. We shall continue on towards on the Cecilia contour path, until we reach a sign that points down to Kirstenbosch and up to the Contour Path/Skeleton Gorge/Nursery Ravine. Skeleton Gorge isn’t a walk; it’s a choreographed ascent. At this point, we shall access wooden ladders clinging to cliffs, waterfalls spray your face. As we reach the summit At Hely Hutchinson Reservoir, take a breath—the mountain’s majesty surrounds you and welcomed by a sandy beach - Yes, a beach awaits at the summit. Once we reach the top, we will make our way towards the upper Cable Car Station. If the cable car is open, we will take it back down (ticket fare not included). However, we will hike down a common route if the cable car is closed. During the hike, we will access some off-the-beaten-track viewpoints that offer stunning photo opportunities. Please note that there will be some steep and exposed sections along, waterfall crossings and ladders. If required, I will assist you with scrambling up these steep parts. It is important to be comfortable with heights and relatively fit, as the hike up is steep and rocky, lasting at least 3-4 hours.
