The Original Lazari is located in Vredehoek was opened 7 years ago and it offers mountain views, awesome cupcakes and hearty fare which is enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. Recently a new branch was opened in the Cape Town suburb of Green Point, however loyal regulars will tell you that its this branch that retains all the charm and authenticity intended when it opened all those years ago.
This casual, funky eatery caters to a wide range of tastes in a casual menu, chalked up large boards above the dining area. And while regular staple items haven't changed in years (and for good reason), there are regular additions chalked up alongside them.
Perhaps the most celebrated aspect of Lazari are it's delectable baked goods, cooked fresh right in the store. Their pink cupcakes are the star of the show here, and served with a fresh cappuccino or laté, make for the most decadent yet casual mid-mornign coffee experience. At the same time, the fast, free wifi on offer makes this a superb spot to catch up on a few emails, or meet with clients who'll understand the importance of a good cup of coffee in such a warm, homely environment.
Be warned though - Lazari also makes their cupcakes, and even larger, freshly baked cakes, to go, and it's all too tempting to add a few to your tab when you ring up your light business lunch or quick morning coffee.
