Description

The tour begins in Johannesburg with a visit to Mandela House in Soweto before travelling to Kruger National Park. Spend two nights at Kruger Adventure Lodge or similar, enjoying guided game drives to see the Big Five in one of Africa’s largest game reserves.

Next, travel to Isimangaliso Wetlands Park, a World Heritage Site in northern KwaZulu-Natal. Activities include a hippo and crocodile boat cruise on the St Lucia Estuary and a game drive. Accommodation is at Elephant Lake Hotel or similar for one night.

From Isimangaliso, visit Durban for a two-night stay at Blue Waters Hotel or similar, including a guided city tour. Then travel to the Drakensberg Mountains for hiking, with one night at Gooderson Monks Cowl Golf Resort or similar (bed and breakfast).

The tour continues along the Wild Coast, visiting local villages, the Nelson Mandela Museum, and Qunu, Mandela’s birthplace. Overnight stays are in Mthatha and East London at 3 or 4-star hotels or lodges (bed and breakfast).

On the Garden Route, start from Port Elizabeth and explore Addo Elephant National Park with a game drive. Activities include hiking in Robberg Nature Reserve, visiting white sand beaches in Plettenberg Bay, the Bloukrans Bridge area (home to the world’s highest bungy jump at 216 metres), and Knysna Heads with a sunset boat cruise from Knysna Quays Waterfront. Stay two nights in Knysna (bed and breakfast).

The final day includes whale watching in Hermanus (seasonal), wine tasting of five wines at Benguela Cove Wine Estate, and a visit to Betty’s Bay to see African Penguins. The tour concludes with arrival in Cape Town in the late afternoon on day 10.
