Itinerary Overview

Day 1: Robben Island, Table Mountain & Cape Town City Tour
Arrive at Nelson Mandela Gateway by 8:30 am and board the 9:00 am ferry for a 3.5-4 hour Robben Island tour, guided by a former political prisoner. Explore Mandela’s cell and the Long March to Freedom exhibition before returning by boat to the V&A Waterfront.

Next, transfer to Table Mountain cableway where you skip the queues and ascend to the summit. Enjoy exploring the mountain and an optional lunch.

Continue to Signal Hill for wide views across Cape Town, including city landmarks and the colorful houses of Bo-Kaap, where you pause for photos and historical context. Stay close to your belongings.

Finish with a scenic drive along Adderley Street featuring Slave Lodge, Cape Castle, City Hall, Company Gardens, and Parliament. Return to your hotel between 5:00 pm and 5:30 pm.

Day 2: Cape of Good Hope and Penguins Sightseeing
Hotel pickup at 9:00 am. Travel along the Atlantic Seaboard via Bantry Bay, Clifton, and Camp’s Bay. First stop is Maiden’s Cove for photos of the Twelve Apostles mountain range and Camp’s Bay beach.

Visit Hout Bay for a 45-minute Seal Island boat cruise to see local seals. Then drive along Chapman's Peak with photo stops if weather allows.

Continue through Noordhoek with an optional coffee break at Village Roast in Noordhoek Farm Village. In Simon’s Town, see the Just Nuisance monument and learn about the navy’s famous Great Dane.

Walk the boardwalk at Boulder's Beach Penguins Colony to observe about 2,500 African penguins up close.

Explore Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point, with stories about explorers Vasco Da Gama and Bartholomew Dias. Optionally use the Cape Point Funicular to visit the lighthouse where ocean currents meet.

Return through False Bay, passing St. James Beach’s colorful beach huts. Drop off at your hotel between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm.

Day 3: Stellenbosch and Franschhoek Cape Winelands Tour
Pickup at 9:00 am. Travel to Marianne Wine Estate in Stellenbosch for biltong and wine tasting, featuring a selection chosen by Gordon Ramsey for Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday.

Visit Fairview Vineyards for cheese and wine tasting. Pass by Drakenstein Correctional Facility, where Mandela spent his final two years in prison, and photograph his monument outside.

Drive through Franschhoek, the Food and Wine Capital, with an optional lunch. Visit Haute Cabriere for MCC (bubbly) tasting and Delaire Graff Estate for a premium wine experience.

Return to your hotel between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm.
