Arabella Golf Course

The Arabella Golf Course really is one of the best that South Africa has to offer and was by far the best course that we have played on. The slight catch is that the course is located in Kleinmond (just outside of Hermanus) on the Western Cape. Following the motorway it is just over 60 minutes from Cape Town, but following the simply stunning coastal road it took us 2 hours but was well worth it. The Arabella Golf Course was voted the number 2 golf course in South Africa and number 1 in the Cape.

The moment that you drive down to the course you can see that you are not only going to have a round that has some beautiful surroundings but the course is kept in fantastic condition. Arabella is a classic parkland course and has spectacular views across the Bot River Lagoon as well as further across to the Kogelberg Mountain Range. Arabella is one of those really well designed courses that is a challenge for the best of golfers, while at the same time it is forgiving enough to allow intermediates to have a very enjoyable round.

A nice bit of trivia is that the Arabella Golf Club has been the annual home to the Nelson Mandela Invitational charity golf tournament since 2003. This tournament hosts likes of Jack Nicklaus, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen , Samuel L Jackson amongst other top names that have made a valuable contribution to this charitable event.

The Arabella Golf Club is part of the Arabella Western Cape Hotel and Spa which means that the facilities that go along with the golf course are second to none, the course is complemented by a luxurious clubhouse with bar and halfway house, as well as a fully stocked pro shop and excellent practice area with two resident teaching professionals. For after your round the hotel has some fantastic restaurants and if you are in need of a little quiet time then there is also a Spa.
