Tour Description

Day 1: Botlierskop - Oudtshoorn
Depart from the meeting point near DHL Cape Town Stadium at 6:45am, or arrange hotel pickup within 5km of central Cape Town or Stellenbosch if booked early. Travel approximately 450 km (6 hours) along the Garden Route to the 3,500-hectare Botlierskop private game reserve, located in a malaria-free area.

On an open-top 4x4 vehicle, enjoy a two-hour game drive spotting wildlife including lion, elephant, buffalo, and rhino. Leopards are unlikely to be seen due to their nocturnal and evasive nature. Learn about the local ecosystem from an experienced game ranger while exploring the region's plants, insects, and smaller animals.

After the safari, check in to your overnight accommodation. Options include the 4-star luxury Buffelsdrift Lodge on the Klein Karoo, featuring canvas tents with modern comforts, outdoor showers, and bush or waterhole views. Alternatively, choose the Farmstay option at Mooi Plaas ostrich farm or a centrally located guesthouse in Oudtshoorn town.

Day 2: Buffelsdrift - Route 62
Following breakfast, embark on a two-hour 4x4 bush drive through the Klein Karoo to spot buffalo, giraffes, kudu, porcupines, meerkats, and other wildlife. Your ranger will provide insights into the region’s fauna and flora.

Optionally, join an elephant observation experience (extra cost) in the Cango Valley to view three rescued elephants roaming freely near a waterhole while learning about their behaviour from qualified guides.

Conclude the tour with a scenic drive along Route 62, the world’s longest wine route, returning to Cape Town or Stellenbosch by late evening (6pm - 9pm), depending on traffic and stops.
