Description

The tour begins either at 08:00 or 13:00 and lasts approximately four and a half hours. It starts at the District Six Museum (closed Sundays), where you will learn about the forced removals of over 60,000 residents during apartheid in the 1970s. District Six was once home to a diverse community of slaves, artisans, and merchants representing roughly one tenth of Cape Town’s population.

Next, the tour moves to Langa, South Africa’s oldest formal township established in 1927 for Black Africans before apartheid. The area has a history of political unrest, enriched by local stories and perspectives shared during the visit.

You will then visit a shebeen, a township pub, with the option to taste traditional beer. On Sundays, the tour may include attending a local church service for a unique cultural experience.
