Description
Lion's Head is a well-known hike in Cape Town, explored safely with a professional mountain guide. Enjoy outstanding views and photography opportunities throughout the route. Your guide will pick you up from your accommodation and take you to the trailhead.
The hike starts at the base of Lion's Head, following an easy jeep track with views of Table Mountain and the 12 Apostles to your left. As the trail ascends, it narrows from a jeep track to a single track with sections of rock scrambling. Adventurous hikers can use bolts and chains fixed to the rock face. An alternative, less-exposed route is available for those uncomfortable with heights.
After about one and a half hours, you will reach the summit of this popular mountain. From the top, you will see Cape Town city centre, the Atlantic Seaboard, and Table Mountain. Your guide will take photos, and you can take time to enjoy the views. The descent is mostly easy, returning you to the car for a drop-off at your hotel.
