Begin your half-day tour by visiting Fairview Wine Estate, one of the most iconic destinations in the Paarl winelands. Founded in 1693 and managed by the Back family since 1937, the estate has evolved into a comprehensive 'farm-to-fork' destination.
It is perhaps most famous for its landmark Goat Tower, which symbolizes the farm's large herd and its commitment to producing world-class goat and cow's milk cheeses alongside an extensive portfolio of wines.
Fairview Wine and Cheese offers a multifaceted experience that blends traditional South African hospitality with innovative farming and production. Tasting takes place in four custom-designed, barrel-shaped 'pods,' where dedicated hosts guide guests through selections of six wines expertly paired with six Fairview cheeses.
Next, head to De Grendel Wine Estate, one of Cape Town's most historic and scenic wine farms, situated on the fynbos-covered slopes of Tygerberg Hill. Dating back to 1720, it has been home to the Graaff family for five generations and is celebrated for its panoramic views that stretch across Table Bay to Table Mountain.
The tasting lounge is designed to maximize the estate's famous views, featuring a long, glass-encased veranda where guests can sample award-winning wines. The estate is particularly known for its crisp Sauvignon Blanc, bold Shiraz, and the elegant 'Op Die Berg' Chardonnay.
