Description

Leave the busy Cape Peninsula behind and discover a different side of the Western Cape on a scenic full-day journey from Cape Town to Hermanus. Your adventure begins with hotel pickup in Cape Town before traveling towards the False Bay coastline. Rather than heading to Cape Point, follow the spectacular Overberg route through Gordon’s Bay and Clarence Drive, where mountains rise dramatically from the ocean. Along the way, your registered local guide will introduce you to the landscapes, history, and communities of the Western Cape, with opportunities to stop at scenic viewpoints for photographs. Continue towards Betty’s Bay, where you'll visit Stony Point Penguin Colony. Follow the boardwalks through this protected coastal environment and observe African penguins in their natural surroundings. The colony offers a very different experience from the better-known Boulders Beach, making this an excellent alternative for travelers wanting to explore beyond the usual Cape Peninsula itinerary. From Betty’s Bay, continue along the Whale Coast towards Hermanus. Once in Hermanus, explore the town at a relaxed pace. Visit the historic harbor area and then walk a section of the famous Hermanus Cliff Path, enjoying spectacular views across Walker Bay. The cliff path is one of the best places to appreciate Hermanus' coastline and, during whale season, provides opportunities for land-based whale watching. Gearing's Point is another excellent coastal viewpoint for photographs and ocean views. You'll then have time to enjoy lunch in Hermanus and explore the town independently before continuing your scenic experience. Depending on the day's timing, weather, and group interests, the tour can include a visit to Fernkloof Nature Reserve, known for its exceptional fynbos vegetation and mountain scenery, or a scenic drive through the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. After a day of coastal scenery, wildlife, walking, and local discovery, begin your return journey to Cape Town.
