Description
Discover Cape Town’s history, culture and coastal beauty on a five-hour guided half day city tour. Travel in a comfortable vehicle with a group, stop at important landmarks and experience the city through its museums, communities, food and scenic viewpoints. Your first stop is the Iziko South African Museum, founded in 1825 and home to collections that explore South Africa’s natural and cultural heritage. Learn about the country’s wildlife, indigenous communities and historical development. Stop at the Company’s Garden, originally established in the 1650s to supply fresh produce to ships travelling between Europe and Asia. Today, this peaceful historic garden is surrounded by some of Cape Town’s most important cultural and governmental buildings. Continue to Greenmarket Square, one of Cape Town’s oldest public squares. Walk around the lively market, meet local traders and browse African crafts, artwork, clothing and souvenirs, which may be purchased at your own expense. Explore the colourful Bo-Kaap neighbourhood, traditionally associated with Cape Town’s Cape Malay community. Learn about its cobbled streets, brightly painted houses and cultural heritage. Taste traditional Cape Malay treats such as a koesister and samoosa, and enjoy respectful interaction with members of the local community. Travel to Signal Hill for panoramic views over Cape Town, Table Mountain, the Atlantic Ocean and the city coastline. Take photographs and hear more about the hill’s historical role as a signalling point for ships arriving in Cape Town. Complete the tour with a stop in Camps Bay, famous for its white-sand beach, palm-lined promenade and views of the Twelve Apostles mountain range. Enjoy time for lunch at a local restaurant at your own expense before returning to your pickup location. The tour lasts approximately five hours. Morning pickup takes place between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM, depending on the guest’s location. An afternoon departure is also available at 1:00 PM.
