Begin your journey with a visit to the Long March to Freedom, the world’s largest outdoor bronze sculpture museum. See over 101 life-size statues of iconic figures who shaped South African and African history. Enjoy a curated wine tasting featuring 5 wines crafted by Black women winemakers, each paired with a legacy. Taste wines like De Pizan Sparkling Red, Khulu Wines ‘Inala’, Steve Biko Tesselaarsdal Pinot Noir, Nelson Mandela Seven Sisters Chenin Blanc, and Albertina Sisulu Chenin Blanc by Nondumiso Pikashe Ses’fikile Wines. Next, drive to Victor Verster Prison, where Nelson Mandela spent his final 2 years before release. Take a group photo at the iconic Mandela statue marking his walk to freedom. Visit the first Black-owned wine estate in South Africa. Enjoy a wine tasting paired with cheese, followed by lunch. On Saturdays, the farm offers a traditional lamb barbecue available only on weekends. Explore Franschhoek town and the Huguenot Memorial, then head to Stellenbosch, the heart of the Cape Winelands, for a short walking tour. On your way back, drive past Khayelitsha township to witness the resilience of South Africa’s communities, pass Cape Town International Airport, and Groote Schuur Hospital, site of the world’s first human-to-human heart transplant.
