Description
Stellenbosch (1 hour 45 minutes)
Located 20 minutes from Cape Town, Stellenbosch features vineyards producing Chenin Blanc, Shiraz, and the South African Pinotage grape. Learn about Methode Cap Classique, a local sparkling wine style comparable to French champagne. Enjoy a walk through Stellenbosch's historic center before visiting two wine estates. The first estate includes a cheese tasting paired with wines, followed by another wine tasting at the second estate with opportunities to purchase bottles.
Franschhoek (2 hours)
Franschhoek, known as the 'French Corner,' is a village established by Huguenot settlers. Stroll through its historic center and visit the Huguenot Memorial for photos (museum entry optional). Experience a scenic ride on the Franschhoek Wine Tram that stops at a wine estate for 4 to 5 wine tastings.
Drakenstein Prison
On the route between Franschhoek and Paarl, view Drakenstein Prison (Victor Verster Prison), where Nelson Mandela spent the last 14 months of his imprisonment before his 1990 release.
Paarl (1 hour)
