Tour Description

The tour starts with hotel pick-up between 8:00 and 8:15. Transfer to Nelson Mandela Gateway at the V&A Waterfront for a ferry departing at 9:00 to Robben Island. Please have your passport ready for boarding.

On arrival, disembark and take a short walk to board a bus for a guided tour of the island. This includes sites such as the limestone quarry and former prisoner housing. Next is the Prison Tour led by a former political prisoner, visiting prison cells including Nelson Mandela’s cell, followed by the 'Long Walk to Freedom' to the ferry for return to the Waterfront. The total island visit lasts about four hours. Your guide will meet you again at Nelson Mandela Gateway.

Lunch at your own expense at the V&A Waterfront follows (approximately 1.5 hours).

After lunch, an optional Diamond Factory tour is available. This 30-minute visit explains diamond processing, the 4 C's of diamonds, and features an opportunity to purchase jewellery such as chains or engagement rings directly from experts.

The tour continues with a small Cape Town city orientation including visits to the Castle of Good Hope, District 6 Museum, Parliament House, Company Garden, and other landmarks. There is a 25-minute stop in Bo-Kaap to view and photograph the historic colorful houses originally built for slaves.

Finally, the group drives to Table Mountain National Park. The guide accompanies guests from the lower to the upper cable car stations while explaining how to explore the park. Please note, cable car tickets (R390 per adult, R200 per child) are not included and should be booked online in advance at www.tablemountain.net to avoid queues and traffic. The Table Mountain stop lasts about one hour.

The tour ends with hotel drop-off.
