Description

We start in the pre-dawn darkness with our headlamps and backpacks. The city of Cape Town still asleep twinkles with a million lights as we make our way up and around the Lion's Head. We past the upmarket suburbs of Camps Bay & Clifton , as the Atlantic Ocean crashes into the shore far below. After about an hour and a half of hiking and scrambling we arrive on top as the sunrise paints the sky orange, pink and red. We enjoy the sun rise and some time on top, joining the others who braved the early start for a stunning reward. After a rest, photos and snacks on top, we take a slow walk down, with memories to last a lifetime. The hike takes about three hours. Moderate fitness is required, but you need to be more willing and able then have any athletic ability. Pickup and drop-offs can be arranged.

Important Information

• This is a fun three-hour out-and-back hike with some minor scrambling, i.e., the use of hands for some sections. There are also a few ladders to ascend, but nothing serious.
