The Victorian 1906 Restaurant
Capetown
The Victorian 1906 Restaurant seats 40 people and serves breakfast, morning tea, lunch, high tea and dinner. The food is great and the atmosphere is fun. There are chandeliers, big glass shop windows with passing town people and seriously comfortable Victorian chairs.
The food served here is a wonderful combination of the South African home cooked hearty meals and fine cuisine. The result is tasty uncomplicated food for the soul. The atmosphere and the ambience of the Victorian pulled me back to days when the good hotels were all in the centre of town in the main road. When eating in at the hotel restaurant was only reserved for the wealthy.
Breakfast for the guests of the “the Vic” in the morning is a buffet of choice and a cooked breakfast is also available. The lunch menu is full of hearty fare. After a day of driving and visiting curio shops and wine farms, the Victorian 1906, offers cool, fun splendour and delightful service.
This is wine country – and the Victorian has a collection of wines from the regional farms that includes Ashton, Van Loveren, Riebeek, Springfield, Montagu Uitvlugt, Cloverfield, Arrabella, Perdeberg and Zandfliet. They also stock other South African wines but they do support their neighbour’s estates first.
