Beau Constantia Wine Estate
Capetown
Beau Constantia is a spectacular boutique wine estate, ideally located towards the top of Constantia Nek drive, with breathtaking views over the Constantia Valley and False Bay, and on a good day, even the distant Helderberg Mountains.
The vines at Beau Constantia are planted on some of the steepest slops in the Cape, and some reach as high as 350 metres above sea level. All this means that a trip to Beau Constantia is truly unique - even before you've tasted any of their award winning wines.
The vines themselves were only planted on the slopes in 2003, after devastating fires destroyed extensive fynbos and pine forests in 2000. Today, however, there are over 11 hectares of vineyards at Beau Constantia, and they now boast a wide variety of wines, including Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc, Viognier, Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Shiraz.
Beau Constantia has also launched a second tier range of wines which they have called Pas De Nom. The white is a blend of Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Viognier; the red a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot.
Beau Constantia also offer a fully-equipped conference and function venue, and there is a full spa available on the estate, called the Beau Constance Spa, and they offer a variety of luxurious treatments - click here for more information.
The tasting room at Beau Constantia is perched high above the valley, and is reason enough to visit the estate. Coupled with their superb range of wines, a trip to Beau Constantia is a must-do when you're next in the Constantia Valley.
