Vrede en Lust is home to 2007 Woman Winemaker of the Year, Susan Erasmus. The new winery has been operational since 2002 - and has been delivering award winning wines since.
Vrede en Lust's story goes back to 1688, when Jacques de Savoye arrived at the Cape with the French Huguenots. The current owners, the Buys family, are the 17th owners of the farm. They purchased the farm in 1996 and set about replanting the noble cultivars. The farm is situated between the Rupert de Rothschild and Plaisir de Merle estates.
Vrede en Lust means 'Peace and Eagerness' in Dutch. It has been indeed been revitalised to become a modern farm that delivers a level of customer service which exceeds expectations.
