Eaglevlei is now a hive of activity. Only 25 minutes from Cape Town, they offer a unique experience, from their state of the art wine tasting facility with uninterrupted views of Table Mountain and the Stellenbosch mountain range, their restaurant (The Vinyeard Kitchen) run by talented chef Herbie van Schalkwyk, an art gallery exhibiting local and international works and an arts foundation bringing local township and farm kids to Eaglevlei to learn about art, dance and theatre.
Art classes take place twice a week at the Eaglevlei estate and are led by volunteer artists from The Pebbles Project (www.pebblesproject.co.za). Inspirational art produced by the children is displayed and sold at the Eaglevlei art gallery with 100 per cent of the proceeds raised from art sold being spent on further education for the children.
Eaglevlei also has the biggest jungle gym in the Western Cape, so it’s a great place to bring the children and relax.
In just under a year, Eaglevlei, has produced a portfolio of affordable yet premium wines that they can be proud of and their estate has become a thriving tourist destination.
