The Giraffe House is a privately-owned wildlife awareness centre which is situated just outside Cape Town, a minutes drive off the N1 on the R304 towards
Stellenbosch. Giraffe House Wildlife Awareness Centre promotes education, knowledge and respect of African wildlife. Giraffe House aims to provide a place for kids - and others - to experience and learn about animals and conservation.
Giraffe House is open to the public 7 days/week, 9am to 5pm. They have a kiosk, children’s play area, picnic areas (public can bring along a picnic) and even a Kiddies Bicycle Track for kids under 10! (opening Oct 09/kids must bring along their own bicycles)
Giraffe House hosts awesome outdoors children’s birthday parties (snake show included !!) A thatched venue provides an ideal outdoor location for functions and meetings. Giraffe House offers school tours, including a guided tour, a talk and an interactive and an educational snake/reptile show.
Daily animal encounters will be presented at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. The animals are all African and are kept in environmentally friendly enclosures. Giraffe House has the following reptiles: Angulated Tortoise, Leopard Tortoise, Nile Crocodile, snakes.
Animals: Dromedary Camel, Blue Duiker, Blue Wildebeest, Cape Buffalo, Eland, Gemsbok, Giraffe, Grysbok, Grey Duiker, Springbok, Zebra, Caracal and Bat-eared Fox.
Birds: Ostrich, Fischer's Lovebird, Black-cheeked Lovebird, Yellow-collared Lovebird, Rosy-faced lovebird, Ruppell's Parrot, Meyer's Parrot, Senegal Parrot, Orange-bellied parrot, Red-fronted Parrot, Yellow-collared Lovebird, Grey-headed Parrot, Congo Grey Parrot, Timneh Grey parrot, Cape Teal, Red-billed Teal, Yellow-billed Duck, White-faced Duck, Fulvous Duck, Egyptian Goose
