Description
Visit the Mother City of South Africa. You are picked up from your hotel lobby at the beginning of the tour into the city. Starting at Bo Kaap (colorful houses) and you will learn about the origins of that area dating back to the pre-apartheid period. Followed by a tour of the different museums dotted in and around the city center which include Iziko Museum, the Slave Lodge Museum and District Six Museum. You will enjoy an interesting walk through the Company Gardens. There is so much to explore in terms of history inside the garden. Take a look at the statues of Queen Victoria and Jan Smuts. This is also the starting point for the 30 000 strong demonstration led by Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu in 1989. This is where he coined the phrase “rainbow people” to describe the diversity of South Africa’s population. The garden is full of numerous historical treasures that you’d easily miss if you weren’t looking. You will enjoy exploring the Castle of Good Hope, one of the oldest buildings in South Africa. This building is pregnant with history regarding the city. Finally, you will go via cable car to explore the famous Table Mountain. Table Mountain was inaugurated as one of the new seven wonders of Nature on the 2nd of December 2012. And is the only one of the new seven wonders of nature in a city no wonder why over 1 161 206 visitors visited this iconic landscape (as per 2018/19 statistics). Experience the Cable Car ride and the breath-taking view of Cape Town from the top of Table Mountain.
