During this class, participants will learn how to make the samoosa (pastry triangle) and koesister (traditional, sweet-spicy doughnut) from scratch. The two-hour, interactive cooking workshop takes you through this process step-by-step, while guided by an accomplished Cape Malay cook, in a home kitchen in Bo-Kaap. At the end of the class guests sit down with the host to enjoy their self-prepared snacks, while engaging in some hearty conversations. The koesister and samoosa are synonymous with the the Bo-Kaap’s earliest inhabitants, and today remains an integral part of South Africans’ diets, regardless of their culture and religion.
